if the islanders use their offensive talent to get a D-man from St. Louis they will be keepig that d-man. Mainly b/c no matter what they offer UFA they don't come to the Island. They have offered 4 UFA d-men more money to come in the last 2 years and they passed.

If we offer Suter 10 mill a year for 4 years he will take 5 to go to Detroit instead.

makes no sense for them to flip a potential big d man because they are hoping to sign another big time dman....wouldnt this "big time dman" be more excited to sign with the islanders if he has a top pairing dman to play with as opposed to a top prospect???

What if we promised him a free parking pass all summer long to Jones beach and an all exclusive paid trip to splish splash?

He would much rather play for the biggest cry babies in the whole league I am sure.

Philadelphia? God knows during this year's entire play-offs, they have taken their whining to the next level.

That said, I'm sure the stud UFA would want to win and play in the play-offs.

Bet we have a great shot of signing that big-time UFA after getting shot down by defensive legends such as Paul Martin and Christian Ehrhoff.

The kind of St Louis Blues defenseman the Oilers would be interested in (young and with good potential, e.g Cole) is not likely to be enough to make them give away the #1 pick, and anything better than that (Shattenkirk) has NO chance of being traded by the Blues, let alone the Islanders. Don't see this as very likely.

Why would St. Louis trade away a stud dman? Who would it be anyways? Pietrangelo(sp) isnt going anywhere and I cant see shatty getting moved either...

The Blues have 1 defenseman signed past next summer, and have no amazing d prospects of note. It seems ridiculously unlikely that they'll trade a dman, let alone that the Isles would turn right around and give that dman up...

My source tells me the Isles are targeting a UFA d-man to fill their void. A very big time UFA d-man.

Jeff Finger will look pretty sweet in an Islanders uni.

No way! He won't take $5 million per to go to Detroit.

Suter will go to either Detroit, Minnesota or Chicago for around $7 million per season, +/- about $300 thousand.
